IELTS Speaking part Two & Three about describe an intelligent person you know with Answer and Vocabulary Band Score 6.5-8

Describe an intelligent person you know/ Describe a knowledgeable person/ Describe a person who knows a lot.

You should say:

- who this person is

- when and where you first met them

- what kind of person they are

- and explain why you think this person is intelligent.

Ok right then, well the person that I’d like to talk about is one of my university friends called Nick, because he's honestly one of the smartest people I know. And we’ve been friends ever since I started university, because I found myself sitting next to him in our first lecture, and we kind of just got talking. As for what kind of person he is, well um, I guess the best way to describe him would be sociable and likeable. Although he’s a super smart guy, he’s not arrogant in the slightest and he gets on well with everyone. Anyway, moving onto why I think he’s intelligent, well first of all, he always does really well in all our exams, you know, like coming top or second in most of them. And what’s amazing is that he doesn't seem to study all that hard, but still manages to do so well. For example, as well as studying, he’s also got a part-time job, which I’m sure must take up quite a bit of his time. So it's really impressive how he’s able to do this without affecting his studies whatsoever. And another thing is that whenever the lecturer asks a question, he always knows the answer, and sometimes he’ll just whisper it to me because he feels a bit embarrassed to answer every time. So yeah. I'd say he's a really clever guy, and I feel very lucky to have such a good friend.

QUESTIONS FOR PART 3

Do you think learning materials on the internet are reliable?

I guess it is not one hundred percent dependable really. Since the Internet is a huge source of information, there are always potential risks of fake or unreliable contents. For example, some leading IELTS teaching websites do present some misleading information or tips. Therefore, a user is advised to use his discretion in choosing the most trustworthy material sources by consulting their friends or experts in the field.

Do you think we can learn practical and artistic skills from hooks or do we really need teachers?

Frankly speaking, both of these are needed. On the one hand, students need books to gain more knowledge or insight, while on the other hand, students need teachers to teach them by hand.

How can people learn things on the internet?

A lot of people post their own experiences on the internet and sometimes, you could also find some video clips that teach you how to do things. For me, I love reading Wikipedia to gain knowledge and solve my questions. Also, a lot of people use online courses to get their degrees without going to the campus, which is really convenient for our life.

How does modern technology affect the delivery of information?

No one can deny the convenience of hi-tech when it comes to news delivery. In the past, it would take one day or even a month to inform others a piece of news, via letter or pigeon. However, the emergence of the internet and social networks just turn the world into a global village where news is transmitted at lightning speed. You can just stay at home and let your friends who live in another continent know something with only a few clicks of the mouse.

What do the Internet help people in their studies/materials?

It is true that computers and Internet play a pivotal role in raising students’ intellectual standard in this digital age. With their comprehensiveness, online networks could supply students with a large pool of savvy spanning from natural subjects such as math, physics to art, music. For instance, children can know how many countries involved in World War 2, or the details of the human genome. Furthermore, gaining ready access to the social networks can offer rural students golden opportunities to participate in online educational groups or courses. This is where they can exchange information about complex problems and their solutions as well as adjust their pace of self-study according to their current level of knowledge.

Do you think books will disappear in the future?

I‘d have to agree with this statement for the reason that many publishing companies began to sell ebooks instead of printed ones. Moreover, especially young people prefer reading e-books instead of reading printed books. They think it is easier and more entertaining compared to reading printed books. Furthermore, many people believe that news on the website is more Reliable and speedily updated than newspaper because news can change in a minute but newspaper could not update news every second.
