Topic: Hometown

My hometown

Answer 1: I’m Iranian and I was born and bred in (my hometown). My hometown is located/situated in east/west/north/south of Iran. (north east of my country) My hometown has around (………) inhabitants. /After the recent population growth, the population is somewhere around ……………. .

Answer 2: What I love best in my hometown is the spectacular scenery, stunning and breathtaking landscapes, picturesque mountains, the local cuisine and to a lesser extent the traditional customs.

Answer 3: On the one hand, like any other metropolis, my hometown is notorious for its pollution, concrete jungles, shanty towns, hustle and bustle, bumper-to-bumper traffic, and high cost of living. However, just like all mega-cities, it is renowned for housing many organizations, universities, hospitals and all other conceivable amenities.

Answer 4: When it comes to climate, my hometown features an arid climate. It can be generally described as mild and agreeable in the spring, scorching and sizzling in the summer, temperate and chilly in the autumn, and freezing cold in the winter.

Answer 5: In my hometown, people are either civil servants or mostly they are self-employed running their family or private concerns. Some others are involved in industry and make a living by working in factories around the town.

Answer 6: About transportation, actually drastic changes have occurred. In the past years, people used to travel around in taxis or their personal cars and occasionally in public buses. But nowadays, people have turned to using public transportation system more than ever; specially the subway which is relatively a newly-established system in my country. It is a quick, cheap and painless way of getting from A to B.

Answer 7: As for food, there are two staple foods. People mainly live on rice and bread. The country’s cuisine is largely based on rice. It is relatively inexpensive and grown locally, making it an affordable and available staple in the everyday diet.

Answer 8: A typical Iranian meal is often a plate of cooked rice served with meat, fish, chicken and vegetables. There are endless varieties of dishes that can be prepared with rice in Iran. Bread, has also many different types which is usually served with breakfast or traditional Iranian classics.

Answer 9: As far as pastimes are concerned, there is no night life in Iran in the western sense of the word, due to the religious and social strictures. So, whenever they get a chance, people get together and have a whale of a time. They go on picnics in the country side to have a refreshing change. Some others head off to the mountains and enjoy trekking. For city persons, there are a whole lot of ethnic restaurants serving a variety of meals.

Answer 10: The best time to visit my city is in spring when the weather is quite warm and pleasant. The city is at its zenith with blooming trees and flowering gardens. This season is more preferable since my hometown has dry and hot summers, cold winters and cool autumns with too much precipitation.
